Ok so i got Forge 007 p DV installed today on B6 A4 1.8T. It doesnt make any noises ( as it suppose not to do). Ok so then, i find out that this Valve can be installed backwards and it WILL sound close to BOV and wont affect the performance. Then, i see that other people say it will affect it. So i'm confused. Has anyone had any experience with that???

If you want noise, buy a WRX. Audi's aren't supposed to make blow off noise, and I am fine with that. You're bordering on rice with a mod that only makes noise. Or you could always buy one of those noise makers on ebay...

Ok, i was about to make a small comment while posting this question but thought it woudlnt be necessary. BOV is not rice. I've got a DV I JUST wanted to see how it is gonna sound like, if i like it i WOULD keep that.
Plz, no more comments about how RICEYYYYY it is to have a BOV/DV. So does anyone have an asnwer???

My A4 makes the psssh noise with the 007......and I eat WRX's for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also have a stock air box. To the OP, if you want a bit more noise, simply A. buy an intake or B. mod your stock air box via swiss cheese method.

Yeah.. like Tifun said, try an open air intake or modding your air box first. That should let you hear the turbo a bit more. And if you're still not happy, THEN start messing with the DV or think about a BOV.

It is installed the normal way. I basically cut the front of the box off with my cutoff wheel. I don't have a heat shield there but it wouldn't affect the sound as to where I made my cut.The hole is on the lower portion of the box and is literally the whole front. Also I am running 23psi through a gt28r......I'm not sure what mods you have but either way it should still give you some pshhhh. The plan was for me, to basically take my front headlight out during AutoX and road racing to get that extra fresh air into the engine.

Yeah a heat shield would be nice, my car came without compliments of crappy prior owners lol. Personally it doesn't sound like a very bright idea to use it the dv that way, it's just a valve, it opens and closes. I can't think of anyway it would make any more or less noise. Personally I would work on a better intake system to get better sound, and a tad more performance. I think the swiss cheese box will do you your trick. If I get time I will pull my box out and snap a picture to show you what cuts I made. -Keith

Its well documented that a BOV does nothing for the Audi 1.8 motor. If anything, it hurts performance in the form of respooling times. You are driving a closed system. The DV recirculates the boost from the waste gate back into the turbo for more boost. If you want to vent to the atmosphere, you can, but expect the turbo to be sluggish. I don't understand the desire to flip the DV upside down for hopes of a different sound. If it is something you are super concerned about, get a vented DV, forge makes one. I agree with the intake upgrade. It should change the sound, but also increase performance.

Another more important thing is that every time the BOV atmospherically vents it looses the portion of metered air, so when you go to hit the throttle again there is a second or so of unmetered air forcing it's way into the engine which has not been calculated yet causing the engine generally to have a brief moment of thin or fat afr.

I know guys, i was thinking the same but when i made a topic about it on AZ i got some really different answers. And the most interesteing is that a DV like Forge 007 (it uses a spring) can be used in reverse. If youi would look at that topic there is even a link where a guy from ForgeMotorSports says that: "The valve will operate fine in either orientation but if installed with boost pressure entering the bottom port the valve may make an annoying squeak or whistling sound." Another guy says: " Forge warranties their product regardless of how you put it in"
