it will go from 2500 to 6000...and it has speed variations 1-6.

From the UDM Guide:
Waxing & Buffing: 1 to 2
Polishing & Cleaning: 3 to 4
Removing paint defects: 5 to 6

This is the newest version of the Porter Cable and is considerably better.  Keep in mind that this is an orbital so it is OPM not RPM.  The UDM is very user friendly so there is no chance to damage your paint (unlike the rotary).  Let me know if you have any more questions.

Here is a realy nice comparison on Porter Cable and UDM. Looks like the UDM is a better machine for a cheaper price.
