Insurance just called and let me know that it is totaled.

Just got word from my dad that it is totaled.
RIP Pontiac g6. You served me well from 2-6-07 up until 4-5-08.  I bought you with 5 miles, and wrecked you with 19,250.  RIP.
Heres some tribute pics
The night I bought it

Pics the day after I bought it.

Thanks for the great year of service you've provided me, sorry for treating you so poorly, never again will I take for granted a brand new car, especially one that was a gift.

Sorry to hear about that Danny, I remember seeing those pics on ChitownRC and was so impressed, then seeing the pictures of the first set of damage then seeing it fixed and now done for. What do you think you will get in its place? Please not a Civic then a Miata...

As much as I love bimmers(My mom has a 08 535xi), I won't get one, at least this time.  It will be replaced by one of the 1999 ford rangers my dad has at work, he's getting new trucks for his plant and giving me the old one.  I am only going to drive it till august when I go to college and won't be bringing a truck.

The engine SEEMED fine, but that was only my quick look, who knows if there is really any real engine/transmission problems, all I know is Rick's said there is $11,000 in damage.  The car is worth ~10-12, depending on what site you use.  I will get the ranger either tomorrow or monday.

These days it doesnt take much to total a car. Sorry to here about your loss. I lost my first Grand Prix to some old lady that just had eye surgery that day and I am still kind of bitter about it being totaled out. It was a black on black 98 SE that I bought in 02 with only 17k miles. I drove it for less than a year and it was totaled. Because of finacial issues and the amount I owed versus what I was given, the replacement GP I found now had 79k miles on it. Accidents suck and even more so when you are not ready for the car to be gone. Good luck with the Ranger.

You have to remember that that car has a fairly high salvage value. I wouldn't be surprised if it returns 30%. Therefore, the insurance company only has to write a sheet to $7K or so until it becomes more cost effective to total it. If there were no alternate parts available, it is an easy goner. GM replacement body parts are fairly expensive. It seems that anytime the bags pop I end up writing 6-8K sheet.
