So what are the little areas that are model specific I should check out when I go to see this car this weekend?  I know to check for the rusty spots and general wear and tear items, just what are common problems on that era gti. 

make ABSOLUTLEY SURE that the frame rails that hold the engine and trans are in good shape, not rusty, crumpled or folded of any sort, if they are its been in an accident or it been beaten on really hard, also the pinch welds where the steering rack goes through should be in good shape...if they arent dont buy it, those areas are super hard to fix  thumbsup
