So, what should have been a 90 minute install ended up taking us 5 hours to 1am last night... final product below... it sounds allot meaner above 2200 rpm and turbo spooling/ vacuum noises are allot more audible.

Looks very nice. Have you noticed any increase in power?

Also, what happened that the time-to-install took so long? I mean I dont need the step by step, just generally what happened?

Adam, my butt-dyno measures a little bit of a performance increase.  It deffinitely sounds meaner... rapid shifting between 2200-4700 rpm puts me into my seat.

The install took a long time for a few reasons:

1) heat shield mounting was a major PITA, took me 2 days to get them perfectly fitted into the stock aluminum slots.

2) K&N didn't write the instructions correct and didn't include a vacuum hose plug so i had to make a trip to the auto parts store to plug one of the vacuum outlets on the intake tube. (european volvo's have an extra sensor requiring an extra vacuum outlet)

3) the evap to intake connection is super crappy due to a realy cheap vent strut so i had to zip tie the rubber vaccuum hose onto the strut for a solid connection...I'm still worried about it and contemplating cutting some of the stock vacuum hose in order to create a better fit, but this'll have to do for now.  I need to find a cutting device that'll make a clean cut through silicate tubing.

I'll post a picture of the updated install 2moro.

the finished install (everything zip-tied into place):

the problem vacuum hose and k&n hose with stem that won't keep them together:

Good write up, thanks. Thats the kind of material I REALLY like to see here. Mods are a HUGE benefit to the site when we take time to document them.

Glad the performance gain is there for ya'!  thumbsup
