I headed out two days ago from my friend's house to meet my family for dinner at a restaurant about 15 minutes away. I was going about 25-30 mph about 8 seconds after a turn and noticed a brand new GMC Acadia edging his way towards Prairie Ave. in Highwood from an alley behind a local bar/bowling alley.

I maintained my speed and began to pass him, seeing that he had stopped at the edge of the road.
Well, he decided to make his turn right as I passed him...into the side of my car...on my birthday.  Roll Eyes

The door's stuck open

It's a good thing I had no one else in the car...

I'm guessing my passenger could have been a little banged up from the impact and the airbags.

The doors are clearly finished.
Both quarterpanels on the front and rear of the car are dented and bent.
The doors pretty much shoved into the interior of my car (there's no longer any space between the door and the seat), so I'm guessing some internal stuff is bent.
I need a new passenger seat, new a-pillar, ceiling fabric ripped, passenger ceiling handle's broken, passenger side and curtain airbags deployed... and that's just what I could tell at a first glance.

So..do you guys think it's totaled?

Eh I'm guessing it's gonna be totaled... which I guess might end up being a good thing. It'll give me a chance to find a new car, preferably something manual and RWD/AWD. We'll see how it goes.

How old is the car? Usually with both quarters, rocker, b pillar, and doors shot. Along with needing a new seat and curtain air bags... That's going to be pretty expensive. Possibly totaled... Did they get blamed for the accident? Sounds like they were lost and not paying attention.

He did receive responsibility for the accident, being at fault on the police report. But the guy didn't get a ticket... and no he wasn't lost, in fact he was the owner of the bar he was coming out of.

And my car's an '01 with about 105,000 miles...I'm expecting it to be totaled based on what I've seen and heard.

If it were me, I would hope it is. Too much damage to worry about getting it fixed correctly.

You can figure it out yourself with some work. Get ballpark estimates for the parts you feel are shot. Add in any labor costs, a good estimate will do. Then check the current value of your car at one of the car websites. Blue book, etc ...

Then make the comparison.
