I was just wondering about this on the way in this morning.
When you see certain cars, as in make/model, what ones make you think that the owner is a true enthusiast?
For starters, I'll toss out a couple.
Not to blow my horn (no pun there), but when I see a TT, it tells me that this someone is a car lover. It is NOT a family car, rather something that only a person would buy that loves to drive.
Also, my experience with the BMW Z roadsters and coupes also tells me that this is not a car someone buys because they need a practical car to pickup the kids with.
There are others, but, lets see what our community comes up with!

DSM's and rotarys, two cars that require a lot of work.

No they do not have to be euro's. Just wanted to know what you all think, your own opinions.
Im not sure bimmers, as a whole do it anymore. I see too many people driving them when Im out in my six and noone even has a second look. Not that my car is THAT special, its just that it is an unusual bimmer and me being the enthusiast, I always check out older bimmers.

It depends on what your definition of "loaded" is.

One might consider a B5 S4 an enthusiast car nowadays. Since they're getting up in miles they're more costly to maintain, only the people who TRULY enjoy their car will keep them at that point.

well i wouldn't really consider any of thos cars enthusiast cars. Maybe the bmw z's.. I mean i see regular people driving GTi's and S4. Same with MOST m3's and m5 rich guys like to have them. The two cars that come to mind at Toyota Mr2 and E30 M3.

Well, not loaded with cash - but maybe loaded with BS? I know someone with a Z - and he is not a baller, and he is certainly not "loaded" either - lol

Mmmmm,
Im feeling some hostility here. Thats fine, this is a place to vent, so vent a away.
Im thinking a bimmer roadster is a screamer. Just because its not good for much else outside of driving peasure, which is fine.
This all came about me driving around in my six (wait ... did I already tell this story?)
and having other bimmers not even know my car was a bimmer. Vanity on me perhaps? Maybe. Just wondering .......

I am amazed that someone that owns a Bimmer would not know about the 6 - WTF?

the first two that come to mind are both triumphs.....The TR7 and the stag. My reason for saying this, is that both cars suffer from poor build quality. Owners quickly learn that the cars are not worth the cost of having them in a shop, so are forced to do their own repairs. Since here is no status involved in doing repairs on, and owning triumphs, with little collector value, it has to be a labor of love

Hi Buddy, glad you stopped by. As far as the triumphs, both are definitely candidates. I love the TR-6 myself. The old sk00l cars didnt come to mind, glad you brought them up!
