Chris,
The pads are fine ceramic are good, long lasting pads, but, they do tend to sqeel time-to-time. leading you to believe that they are bad. I have installed these on the six, and they sqeel.

Question is, are your rotors bad? I ask because I have been told by many people that the OEM that come with the car are the ones you should keep as long as possible. I dont know how many miles you have, but, In My Honest Opinion, if the rotors are not warped DO NOT REPLACE THEM. Those are the best ones your car can have. If they are damaged, then thats a different story. Just dont replace what is not broken. This only comes from experience my friend. Of course, if you want the fancier rotors, then that is what you need to get.

noise i dont care about( i like the sound, its the kinda sound you hear race cars have... like Tom's(cousingrandpa))... my car stops like a truck, hit the pedal and i keep going, so i figure its time for new brakes

I see. But, if there is not vibrating when you apply the brakes, then the chances are, you dont need rotors. And if it is not sqeeling now, your pads may be ok, you just need to check the fluid and bleed the brakes. Look, I am just trying to save you money. Replace the pads if you really want, thats cheap and you cannot go wrong with that. Just be sure you are doing the right thing before replacing the OEM rotors with ANY after market product. Remember VWs are german and germans are real anal about their specs on the cars. Your OEMs are going to be real good equipment, no need to replace if NOT absolutely necessary.

How about these? Grin  J/K. You may want to check with ECS Tuning. They usually have good pad/rotor combos.

Most people that I talked to said rotor is a rotor and you should go with plain autozone ones.  For the pads, may want to look into Hawk HPS or Akebono.

If you really want to have some brand name rotors, get Brembo plain ones.  They are like $40 each.

I'll have to replace my brakes soon and will get Brembos with HPS pads, Tyrolsport caliper pins, and fluid flush.

Shocked Jeex Jay, it looks like you even polish and wax your rotors!

Not to disagree with Matas, but, I believe the OEM are the best for a car. Now, that said, I am referring to german cars, and more linear, bmws. Obviously, you can go the level Jay has, but, if you are not pushing the car to the level he does, why spend the extra dough? Unless mr. trump, you have enough to do so.

The sources I have it from is that the OEM bimmer rotors are designed for and are the best for the car it is on interms of the cars performance capabilities, weight, etc .... They can be resurfaced several times and still perform as designed.

If you are modding the engine (Jay) and tracking the car (again Jay), then you need to find better rotors. But, I would not grab what is on the shelf at autozone. Find a GOOD quality rotor. Remember that those and the little pads are the only thing that is keep you from slamming into the car/truck in front of you.

If it was me, and I know from experience, just save your cash and get a BBK all at once, I tried to piece it together like that and it does improve your performance a little, but the BBK is the best bang for the buck FOR SURE!

No polish on the rotors, haha. The harsh track pads keep em nice and shiny plus the cryo-treatment I got on them is helping. Evil I do have clean the calipers fairly frequently though.

I agree with Adam on the OEM rotors. However, the Autozone pads/rotors do come with a LIFETIME warranty and they are cheap. Try 'em out and if you like them great! You now have rotors/pad for life. If you don't like them, at least your not heavily invested.

I still say everyone should go with 6-pot Alcon's though. hehe. J/K

Ok my $.02
Mintex Red box pads. Long lasting and grab like a fat kid on a cupcake.
Stock rotors are best or brembo plain or slotted.
