.... *sigh* I actually went out yesterday and bought a new car.. driving the car off the lot after 6 hours of fighting with the dealer I told my son that I *already* missed my old car even though it is still sitting in my garage.  here's the issue.. not sure if I've mentioned it here or not.. my 2000 Dodge Stratus has just 106,000 miles on it and has had no problems up until now.  It seems the car has "letting go" issues.. it REALLY loves the key to stay in the ignition.. for awhile I had "tricks" to get it out, then I figured out if I just didn't mess with it it would pop out on it's own.. the time always being just a few minutes.. those few minutes have now stretch into hours leaving me with a car I can't take to the grocery store or anywhere except work or home.  I work in an industrial park where nobody bothers our cars and I know I can trust the car sitting with the keys in it.  At home, I have in the garage where nobody can see.  But as I said with the time becoming increasingly longer the dash stays lite and now I'm having to push my car out of the garage each morning to get jumped.  I know eventually the battery will not take a charge and I'll be faced with having to buy a new battery.  My mechanic had the car for 3 weeks and couldn't figure out the issue.. I've seached for TSB reports, had the cylinder changed, and short of spending a small fortune for a car that is only worth maybe $2,000 at best have exhausted all efforts.. so reluctantly I went out and bought this yesterday.....

I got a sweet deal.. my dad didn't want the 928 anymore so he gave it to me!  He keeps in his garage, does all the repairs, pays for the plates and insurance too!

I like the looks of the new avenger. And the color is nice too.

That is the most bizzare car story problem I have heard to date.  scratch

My comment on "reluctantly" picking up the Dodge? I would have had NO problem picking up that car! Thats killer!

Thanks for sharing Melissa.

thanks guys.. I'd probaby be more excited if I *HATED* my old car or if it was indeed "dead" but it's not.. so the reluctance part is just coming from my pocketbook screaming when I have a perfectly good reliable car sitting in my garage.  I've had the Stratus since it had 6 miles on it and being the penny pinching polish jew american princess I am I like keeping my cars until I drive them literally into the ground.   I'm not one to waste ANYTHING and take great pride in being able to "fix" things or use things until they REALLY need replacement.

oh yeah.. I'm a Dodge girl through and through (even though I'm convinced that Dodge has been sleeping with the Japs for years) and totally agree the Avenger is a great car IN FACT the new designed "sportier" stratus came out the month after I bought my Stratus and I was mad because the Stratus looked very similar to the Avenger which I liked... however I wanted a 4 door sedan because I was driving a 2 door Geo Storm and my son would climb over my seat to get in the back.  It annoyed me to no end and I decided from there on out that my passengers should be safe and comfy AND shouldn't have to step with their muddy wet shoes on my seat! lol! So in reality, the Avenger is the car I have wanted for 9 years.. in that respect I'm happy has a clam.. just not happy I had to jump when I wasn't ready.

wanna be sick Huh?  my stratus wouldn't start this morning (not a big shock the key was stuck in the ignition last Friday night for around 9 hours and I didn't dare try to start it and get the darn thing stuck all over again) so this morning I pushed the beast out of the garage, pulled my husbands ram up to it nice and close and attempted to jump it.. um yeah no go.. geez.. so I call me dad blah blah blah blah he figured it was a bad connection, sure enough I pulled my new car up to it and it started right up.  ok.. so here is the sick part.. EACH TIME I TRIED TO START IT TODAY THE KEY CAME RIGHT OUT OF THE IGNITION!!! ughhh so I've gone out and spent THOUSANDS for a new car, and now my old car is working perfectly!!  sick sick sick.

Then became sad.

And is now making you guilty. Grin
