Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to provide that a person may not drive a motor vehicle with any sign, poster, window application, reflective material, nonreflective material, or tinted film upon the front windshield, sidewings, or side windows immediately adjacent to each side of the driver in a manner that allows less than 50% light transmittance (instead of completely prohibiting those items on those windows).http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/BillStatus.asp?DocNum=4133&GAID=10&DocTypeID=HB&LegId=46991&SessionID=76&GA=96WARNING!!! Hoffman Estates is nabbing people ALL DAY LONG for tints. $50 fine or remove tints and show up in court. They got me last week and when i was leaving work there were 3 cops sitting on the median on Rt 59 just waiting for people with tints to rill by. I watched a poor guy get nabbed. I hope this passes I will rollin through Hoffman Estate for hours  |

There is currently a pending in Illinois that would make it legal to run up to a 50% tint on your front side windows. right now it is illegal to have anything but factory tint. |

Who the hell puts 50% on their cars anyways...?? perforated vinyl for signs (wrapped billboard cars) allows 50% light transmission I think my tints pass 20% lol they suck at night. Plus the 50% thing allows for the different manufacturers who either rate light blocked or light transmitted 20% tints when its transmitted are a touch darker than blocking 20% trust me.  |

Who the hell puts 50% on their cars anyways...?? In case you forgot i had 50% on my Subarus windshield and i loved it. It actually helps a lot in the summer since most of the heat gets in through your windshield. Either way allowing 50% is better than nothing. Not everyone gets tints for looks. Some actually get it because they want to protect their interior and cool down the interior in the summer. So this is actually pretty nice considering you can legally reduce sunlight entering by 50%. |

The wording of the bill is "to allow motorists to protect themselves from skin cancer" so it should pass after all who wants to be the asshole who didn't want illinoisans protected from skin cancer.
Side note: for those of you who have seen my tints Noreen got sunburned in my car with the windows up and sunroof closed last year in Vegas. So yeah if it doesn't pass we'll be getting a doctors note allowing them anyway.

I believe tint is illegal on the front windows in regards to a police officers safety. The rear windows can be as dark as people want though. I believe this reasoning came up because an officer got shot through a tinted window by a driver. However, this doesn't make sense because its not like the officer can't get shot from someone sitting in the back... In other words there is no reasoning, it Illinois, the state of potholes and corruption. |

um no it's IL and they will do whatever they can to get easy cash. it's for "police officer safety" so they arent shot at upon approaching a vehicle. however you can literally PAINT your rear windows solid black and somehow that's OK
