This afternoon, I took care of my beetle.
I need to change the shock absorber because he was too old (39 years old  Roll Eyes).


Pics :

Right side of the beetle, the shock absorber is on left of this pic :




The head bolt had a lot of rust  Angry :




The old absorber is out :




The new one with the old :




The new one, right and left side :






I haven't any new headbolt, i need to find one stainless new.

I used about 2 hours to change this part.

Cool stuff Julien.

Does the Beetle just have a shock absorber per wheel? I assume it uses a leaf spring/torsion bar setup instead of a coil over sprint system

There's only one shock absorber, this one is useful to prevent vibrations in the direction.

Wow man, for being 40 years old the underside of your car is CLEAN. Don't run into much salt in France haha.
