It's common for a tuner car to cause controversy over its looks - some are downright hideous, after all - but it's rare for one to raise eyebrows over political issues. That's just what happened to the Avus Performance RS6, however, which was unfortunately released with a mis-translated title of 'White Power'.

The company promptly posted a retraction of the name on its website, blaming its press agency for the improper translation of the car's name - which is apparently innocent in German. Instead, they're calling the car the Audi RS6 V10 biturbo.

"Due to a mistranslation of our latest project car - the Audi RS6 V10 biturbo - there were lots of radical right-wing rumors on all different blogs and pages that received our first press report," said Avus in a statement. "We distance ourselves from the project title - it was done by our press agency which obviously mistranslated our German project name into English. Furthermore we distance ourselves from anything that has to do with that group synonym and we would also like to say sorry if anyone got personally touched."

Politics aside, it's an attractive car, playing up the RS6's strengths while adding a suitably massive dose of power. In itself, however, it's nothing innovative - many tuners have tread these steps before. Still, 700hp (522kW) and 590lb-ft (798Nm) of torque are nothing to sniff at.

Acceleration of the sleek estate is pegged at 3.9 seconds to 62mph (100km/h) and 12.1 seconds to 124mph (200km/h). All that power and grip is supplied by upgraded ECU software, racing catalytic converters and an upgraded exhaust system, plus lowering springs and 22in alloy wheels. The body kit consists of a carbon fiber front lip and rear diffuser.

120 more hp and only 6 tenths gained to 60? if i remember correctly, the new Hennessey tuned CTS-V700 does 124 in the low 11s and 60 in 3.1 with the same power lol. although, that 124mph time is calculating off of its 1/4 mile time at 10.9@129. hitting 124 should at least be 11 flat.

that's pathetic.

Its a station wagon what do you expect?  dontknow

I mean, just how damn fast do you have to get junior to the soccor game? It is very aethetically pleasing for a wagon. The numbers while dont compare to the other you mentioned are still impressive to me.

seeing as the new CTS-V does the Nurburgring in 7.59, 0-60 in 3.9s, and a 191mph top speed, these aren't your grandparent's Cadillacs anymore (if that's what you're talking about).

Yes it is.
As fast as it is, it is still a geezer car. Always will be, Caddilac has had no appeal to me since the 60's rolled around and they got ugly. Besides the 'ring isn't where i drive. I will probably have to go to Home Depot at least once a week. I'd rather have a tuned RS6 avant badged as an A6 avant.

Honestly, which would be more embarrassing to lose a light to light run to? A guy in a car with CTS-V and Hennessey badging or a guy in an Audi with a ladder poking out the back?

i'd be more embarassed if i was beat by an 830hp 2nd generation Ford SVT F-150 Lightning with a Yamaha R1 in the bed. which actually did happen to me lol. so yes, versatility is going to win that battle. i'd definitely want sports car power, speed, and handling in a package that can be used daily in everyday type situations like lumber hauling.

anybody else catch the name of this car? i'm just wondering. because that's pretty out there for a GERMAN tuner company. they call it the "White Power". is this just a coincidence that its from a German tuner company? or has Hitler been resurrected and now is the CEO of this company?

Dear visitors, readers and customers,

We are very sorry and unfortunate for what has actually happened and is currently happening to our first press report. Due to a mistranslation of our latest project car - the Audi RS6 V10 biturbo - there were lots of radical right-wing rumors on all different blogs and pages that received our first press report. We distance ourselves from the project title - it was done by our press agency which obviously mistranslated our German project name into English. Furthermore we distance ourselves from anything that has to do with that group synonym and we would also like to say sorry if anyone got personally touched.

Deepest Regards

But the caddy cannot do it in the rain, sleet, or snow  thumbsup

Plus it's a freaking avant, the CTS-V is far from a "station wagon". I'm sure weight plays a big part, along with unsprung weight and rotational mass....
