that last one is just epic. i love it. cool to see what those things look like in a picture. living in Florida, its not hard to get those shots lol.

i wonder if i can find my waterspout picture that i took a couple of years back while at Clearwater Beach. now THAT was epic. 2 fairly small waterspouts almost twisting around each other.

how's the weather up in Jax?

How many floors you got?  dontknow

I agree with Aaron, the last one is my favorite, not to take away from the others though.

On the topic of Jax, I was reading an account of a gun-point mugging in town. I was stunned by some of the comments by others stating the condition of the city in terms of crime. I would have never thought that out side of miami. I do remember though years ago when I went back to florida to visit (remember I am originally from there). There was a place out side of ft meyers (north ft meyers actually), that actually still had a sign over the door that said "no ni**ers allowed" Wow. We are talking late 80's folks. I also vaguely remember tampa had some seedy spots too.

So what is your take on the crime there these days?

Crime in Jax, hmm. Unless you are from Florida, or know a lot about Florida, you wouldn't know that Jacksonville has led this state in murder and crime (per capita) for at least 5 to 7 years now. However, most of the crime here in Jax is gang on gang stuff. It is very seldom on an innocent bystander. Just like any other major city in the US, Jax has it's areas you should stay out of. For Chicago it's the southside, here in Jax it's the north westside and some other little areas around town. Jacksonville is a huge, open city though. Next to Juno Alaska, landwise it is the largest city in the US. Personally, I absolutely love it here and I love Florida. I know enough about the state and all it's little cities and towns to know where to go and where not to go. And if I have to pass through a bad area, unlike the communist IL, my second amendment right is not infringed upon down here. I carry a full size Glock .357 everywhere I go, just in case. I pray to God that I never have to use it, but I would never hesitate to do so.

A day late and a dollar short. (me)

The weather here is oppressive for me. I HATE hot humid weather. It matters not that I was born and raised in stuart florida, I never loved the HOT weather. We were transients, that is we lived were ever there was a place for us. I lived in a million dollar home when I was born, right there on hutchinson island in stuart. The home belonged to my grandparents who were so wealthy the wiped their asses with cash and passed that on to the house of Saud in saudia arabia. Yay. I saw what rich people lived like. It is not that impressive.

Now that I have completely hijacked Jons thread, I will say to Jon I am sorry.

Those pics are absolutely killer and I for one am glad you take the time to post them. Thank you Jon. When you get back to the land of asphalt here, I would like to hear some stories to go with the pics.
