1: I use Penstosin Synthetic motor oil in just about EVERY vehicle I change oil in... I change oil a LOT because I work in a european car repair shop. Occasionally I will use Royal Purple or AmsOil, both are also great products.

2: Mann filters (air and oil), if Mann isn't obtainable then I'll go with either a Mahle, Bosch or Wix

3: 5k miles, Pentosin, and AmsOil claim you can do 10k miles... But I've not seen oil analysys' yet so I'm keeping with 5k's.

4: I use Sunoco and Shell fuel only (Citgo's ok to use out there, I just don't have any here)... NO Speedway, NO BP, NO cheap gas

5: 93, but all of my cars are either high compression or turbocharged. Depending on compression ratio and driving style of your car you could run midgrade.

Chris, running 3k with synthetic is a waste... Especially since you're not really hard on your car. I suggest running 5k miles and it'll save you some bones.

actually I drive pretty hard on my car a bunch, and I'm trying to prevent sludge buildup which is a very common problem with 1.8T passats, plus if I go past 4K i start getting the "STOP! Oil Pressure Warning" light when the oil gets old.

I use a few additives with my oil change. One is Rislone and the other is CD-2

Rislone Engine Treatment -  A high quality penetrating lubrication oil, combined with protective engine additives and special cleaning agents. Its multi-grade formula allows the oil to flow freely and provides protection over a broader temperature range. Sludge and other harmful deposits within engines can alter tolerances, stick rings, cause noisy valves & lifters, and plug oil passages and screens. The unique Rislone formula is designed to penetrate into valve seats, bearing surfaces, piston rings and ring grooves, where sludge and varnish is likely to form. These deposits are gradually removed and held in suspension until they are trapped in the filter or removed with the next oil change.
Regular use of Rislone Engine Treatment, with oil and filter changes at the proper intervals, will keep such deposits to a minimum. A cleaner engine is a better lubricated engine with less friction & wear. Rislone works with all petroleum-based motor oils including conventional, high mileage and synthetic formulas. For best protection, use Rislone Engine Treatment at every oil change.

CD-2 - Oil Detergent frees sticky lifters, valves, and rings to quiet noisy engines. Dissolves sludge, carbon, and gum to extend engine life. Cleans all internal engine parts for more pep and power. Protects critical engine parts during high speed or stop and go driving.

The guy I bought my MBZ from is a collector as well as a certified car appraiser and this is what he was using in my car.  He had five S500's and one 06 red Z06 Vette with about 5,000mi.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.  thumbsup
