I tried to post a comment on the blog as anonymous and I couldnt. Just an FYI in case there may be an issue with it.

My question was:

Can you isolate where you place the texture? As in given the surf shot. Can you place texture everywhere except the board to sort of isolate it?

XCUrious as to how flexible you can get with that technique.

Hmm, that's odd. I just checked my settings, and posted an anonymous comment. I don't know why it wouldn't work for you.
Yes you can isolate where the textures show up on the shot, using multiple layers and layer masks. If you look at the original shot of the surfers and then look at the textured version, you'll notice that there is a texture of stars that is only showing up on the surf boards. It's really easy to do just using simple layer masks.
