Sup folks, I think I might need a reality check here, but maybe some of you guys have heard about some options that I haven't been able to find.

Probably sometime next year I'll have the budget to get a new (to me) car, possibly an Audi TT (love 'em!).

The only real bummer to me about the TT is that it seems rather underpowered compared to similar cars in its class, and that bugs the hell out of me.  It seems there's two options to run with if I'm looking to put some serious power under a TT hood... either go with a 1.8T and put a bigger turbo on it, or go with a 3.2L V6 and slap a turbo or supercharger on it.

Obviously, the expense is pretty heavy for the options like HPA or ATP... but I'm wondering if anyone knows of other options for a 3.2L forced induction option... just having difficulty tracking down any other kits or options besides the HPA stuff.  What I'm looking for after all mods is a dyno power of roughly 350-370hp BUT retaining reliability as well.

Is it actually realistic to have a forced induction system put onto a V6 or would reliability take a heavy hit, or are there major issues that someone has seen or experienced?  Basically just looking for a reality check, or seeing if maybe I'll have to compromise on my pipe dream.

Also, I've had some trouble finding any information on what you can do to a stock VR6 to increase power prior to going with forced induction.  Anyone know of a resource out there that can point me to some options to squeeze a bit more out of the engine?  The Vortex is really lean on info regarding that engine for some reason Sad

Sorry if some of my questions seem noobish or underinformed, still getting my head around the scene a little bit.

Check out HPA's main competition and the only shop to build an R32 faster than HPA's

www.eiptuning.com

Thanks for the link Eric!

So I've spent far too much time looking into this lately, and here's what it looks like to me.

Based on what I've read and seen, a V6 modification of this kind tends to be kind of messy even for talented home mechanics.  Probably not realistic for me, which sucks Sad

However, the alternatives seem to be reasonable.  Upgraded turbo kits for the 225Q are pretty reasonable (probably the best I've seen is Rennarts here in the 3.5-4k range, minus the install costs of course.

There are other associated expenses, but it LOOKS like feasibly one could manage about 300whp with the right combos of mods.  Upgraded intercooling, suspension, clutch, exhaust, ECU upgrades, ModShack, Water/Methane injection, etc. etc..  Still pricey but if one becomes a decent enough mechanic at some point in the upgrade process a lot of money could be saved as well.

Thinking I might go this route... might be about where I want to be Smiley

I've dabbled in both areas with the R32, really it's the same car lol. I will say that don't rule out the 225TT, a chipped one is as fast as my stg3 A4. I like the reliability of the superchargers, however the power burst you get from a turbo is not even close and will destroy a SC vr. I think for the money I would be looking into Sleepers. They did some tune work for me on an HPA jetta and built me some killer twin smic. EIP was a decent option, however, they really don't exist anymore for the VAG family. They are now Subaru or something like that. I personally was not happy with the HPA product, especially for the money. I think a one off kit that cost the same would not only be just as reliable, but faster. I dunno, I have a million thoughts about this. I think if you get anything, you should get an ALMS TT. Best car evAr.

yeah I've hear many bad things about eip's service, and the price of the hpa kit is quite expensive and it is nothing above and beyond a beast to get everything installed and working properly.  A stage 3 supercharged vr is a very quick car.

but a stage 3 tt 225 is a monster as well, and honestly alot cheaper in the long and short run, my vote would be for a tuned 1.8t
