i always get alot of people telling me to lower my car because it sits to high, the thing is, i dont want to. my car is a daily driver, i travel with family in it an a sport suspension would be to uncomfortable for all those things. plus... im a camper/fisherman so i do alot of back trail off road driving. my plan is to raise my suspension and turn it into a car like the VW Golf County... for those of you who dont know what a Golf County looks like heres a pic:  and here is my car:  for my car i was thinking of putting a chrome front fog light bar with skid plate( not as extreme as the Golf Country, but similar) plus a slight raise of the suspension and a chrome roof rack (for fishing rods etc. etc.) what do you guys think of this idea, i think it would be kinda cool to have a Passat like nobody else. please tell me what you guys think.  |

Actually Chris I think its quite an interesting idea. If you did it though you would have to fabricate a big guard like the Country to complete that off roadish look. I say go for it. If you really like campin and fishing and all that off road stuff then why not.

You know what, I think that would be a great idea. I just lowered my car and I hate how it rides. I loved the stock VW suspension. It almost feels like a different car. I am seriously thinking of putting my stock springs back in. My car is a DD as well, and its no fun with rough roads and all.

I have the H&R cup kit on the TDI lowered to the point the tires wear holes in the wheel well liners. The ride is rough on concrete expansion joints and potholes but it will handle as well as the slightly smaller and lighter cooper s which has the same ride. A ride only slightly easier on my back than the Vespa.
I do like the stock VW ride and handling but the last time I took a left at 45 without a squeal I remembered why I also like a hard sport suspension.

oh... one thing is that if i go through with this idea... i'm not going to make it look like crap, but as a car i could take to a show too and to let people think that this could be a car to go on a safari with, sort of like those Audi allroads.

The bumper is nice not over the top. find a muffler shop with a mandrel bender and give them measurements then just flatten the ends drill some holes get it plated and bingo ready to mount. (never mind the custom brackets, skid plate, etc.etc.etc.) We could get you some nice Chrome H-D passing lamp housings and halogen bulbs.  |
